U. S. Steel is investing $14 billion across our facilities to strengthen operations, improve reliability, and support the long-term future of steelmaking in America. This is a once-in-a-generation level of investment across our operations and our industry.
We fought hard for these opportunities, securing real, on-the-ground investments in our union-represented facilities as part of our agreement with Nippon Steel.
The goal is simple: advance our facilities and put our company and our employees in a better position for the future. While these investments are separate from the Collective Bargaining Agreement, both are important to the future of our represented employees and our facilities.
Recent Investments across facilities
- Up to $2.5 billion invested in Mon Valley Works, securing a new slag recycler and new state-of the-art Hot Strip Mill at Edgar Thomson (PA)
- $475 million secured for a new Quench & Temping Line at Fairfield Tubular
- $350 million going into Gary Works (IN) to reline the blast furnace and keep it running strong for the long haul
- $75 million invested in a new Premium Thread Line at Fairfield Tubular (AL), boosting capability and production
