Overview

U. S. Steel negotiations for a new Collective Bargaining Agreement are underway. Our proposal is built around protecting what employees value most while investing in the future.

Agreement Term

Five-year agreement (Sept. 1, 2026 – Sept. 1, 2031)

Provides greater long-term stability and certainty for employees and their families

HEALTHCARE

Supports smarter plan design by exploring opportunities to improve value, encourage high-value care and help manage rising healthcare costs

Addresses rising prescription drug costs by working to evaluate specialty drug spending while protecting medically necessary care

Encourages informed healthcare decisions, including choosing the right place for care to receive treatment, so we can continue providing strong benefits for employees and families

Establishes a Joint Benefits Committee made up of U. S. Steel and USW representatives to review healthcare costs and identify ways to help manage rising healthcare costs over time

Wages

Approximately 18.2%* total wage growth over the life of the agreement

Base pay increases every year

Retirement Benefits

Your retirement remains stable with no changes to the Carnegie Pension Plan or Steelworkers Pension Trust

Profit Sharing

The profit-sharing calculation remains unchanged

Uncapped earning opportunity continues

Holidays & Vacation

No changes to holiday benefits

Existing vacation eligibility schedule remains unchanged

During the course of bargaining, the Company will make additional proposals regarding benefits and other terms and conditions of employment.
